OLT works well if all you simply have to file your return without much help. It offers a few limited features, like making sure your return is complete, but there are no add-ons like an owe/refund meter, tax tips, and ongoing assistance. OLT is the most basic way to do taxes. A Federal tax return costs $7.95 and a State tax return costs another $7.95.


There are no back or forward buttons to navigate between sections in OLT. In essence, filing with OLT is just like doing your taxes on paper, minus the paper itself. So this is not good for the tax beginner.

OLT is an online product, so you don't have to download or install software. Setting up an account only takes a few minutes. Just make sure you keep your account name and password safe.

A unique feature of e-File is that you can deduct the cost of filing from your refund. This means you don't have to pay anything up front. But OLT does not give tips on how you can minimize your taxes.

It gives 35 pages of searchable tax information and an FAQ section. OLT Online Taxes also gives some phone support, as well as chat and email options.
